Behind the Design: So Rad in Carlsbad – A Stunning Kitchen Remodel

I’m excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at a project that I had the pleasure of being a part of! While I wasn’t the lead designer on this project, I worked closely with the incredibly talented Katie from Solstice Interiors on the So Rad in Carlsbad kitchen remodel, and I wanted to take you through the process and highlight how SketchUp played a key role in bringing the design to life.

The Project: So Rad in Carlsbad

Located in beautiful Carlsbad, California, this project was all about transforming a kitchen with custom millwork and furnishings throughout. The goal was to create a fresh, functional space that would look beautiful and provide a seamless flow from the kitchen to the surrounding living areas.

Katie had a strong vision from the start, and together, we used SketchUp to create a clear, visual guide for the space. SketchUp helped us align all the details, ensuring we could see and adjust the design before it went to the client presentation.

Scope of Work:

  • Kitchen Remodel

  • Custom Millwork

  • Furnishings Throughout

Step 1: The Power of SketchUp

This is where the magic began. Katie’s design vision came to life in SketchUp, and it was incredible to see how we could manipulate the space in 3D to make real-time changes. From layout to custom details, the model allowed us to visualize everything clearly before making final decisions.

Step 2: Bringing the Design to Life

Once the model was created, Katie and her team got to work. Custom millwork, furnishings, and other design details were carefully implemented to create the desired aesthetic and functionality. The SketchUp model served as our foundation for making sure the final design would match the vision from the start.

Step 3: The Final Look

After a lot of hard work, the final space was ready, and we got to see it all come together in real life. Thanks to Charlotte Lea Photography, the transformation was beautifully captured, showcasing the stunning results of this project.

Why SketchUp Made a Difference

What made this project especially successful was how SketchUp helped us bridge the gap between concept and reality. From visualizing the layout to making adjustments as we went along, SketchUp was an invaluable tool in making sure everything was spot on.

For interior designers, SketchUp is a game-changer. It allows you to create clear, professional presentations for your clients and helps streamline the design process. No more guesswork—everything is laid out right in front of you, which is exactly what we want when working on projects like this.
